Alejandro Perez will be getting a step up in competition.
The Mexican fighter has been scheduled to take on veteran Iuri Alcantara in a bantamweight contest at UFC Fresno (UFC Fight Night 123). The event will go down on Dec. 9 at the SaveMart Center in Fresno, Calif. The news was first reported by Combate and was later confirmed by MMA Fighting.
Perez, who won the inaugural season of The Ultimate Fighter: Latin America, will be looking to build off his split-decision win over Andre Soukhamthath back in August. “El Diablito” is 4-1-1 in his UFC run and 18-6-1 in his overall MMA career. Perez trains out of American Kickboxing Academy in California.
On the other hand, Alcantara is coming off an upset loss to then promotional newcomer Brian Kelleher back in June at UFC 212. The loss to Kelleher snapped a two-fight win streak for the Brazilian. The 37-year-old Alcantara is 35-8 and one no-contest in his UFC career.
